Christine Stoddard is a Salvadoran-American writer, director, actor, and artist based in Brooklyn and originally from Virginia. She founded Quail Bell Press & Productions first as the home for Quail Bell Magazine. Since then, the studio has grown to produce books, plays, films, art projects, fashion shows, and more.
Christine's drama "Mi Abuela, Queen of Nightmares" premiered at The Tank in New York City as part of the highly selective core production program in 2023. In 2022, the show had a workshop run at Gene Frankel Theatre in New York City after winning a national award and publication from Table Work Press in 2022. It has since won recognition from Fulton Theatre's Festival of New Works in Lancaster, PA and had excerpts at Arts On Site at St. Mark's Place and Chashama Fest in Upstate New York. It is now streaming as a filmed version on Vimeo On Demand. Christine's solo act Art Bitch premiered at The People's Improv Theater and includes a TV series filmed at Manhattan Neighborhood Network. Other theatre credits as writer, director, and performer include Theatre Row, the Abrons Arts Center, the Kennedy Center, Theater Alliance, Broadway Comedy Club, Theater for the New City, Greenwich Village Comedy Club, the Magnet Theater, and beyond. Her films as director include Sirena's Gallery, Naomi & The Reckoning, Bottled, Butterflies, and others. Her latest title is Uncontested, a narrative short now making its festival circuit after premiering at the Concourse Film Festival in the Bronx. Her books as author/artist are Water for the Cactus Woman, Belladonna Magic, Heaven Is a Photograph, and additional titles. She is the creator of Forget Fairytales, a comic series, and Badass Lady-Folk, a TV and radio show. Christine is the winner of national artist grants in photography and film from the Puffin Foundation, as well as the honors of FOLIO's "Top 20 Media Visionaries in their 20s," Shenandoah Valley Art Center's "Top 40 Under 40 Artists in Virginia," and Style Weekly's "Top 40 Under 40 of Richmond, VA." She was the first-ever artist-in-residence at Lenox Hill Neighborhood House in Manhattan. Her work has appeared in Cosmopolitan, the Huffington Post, Bustle, The Feminist Wire, The Brooklyn Rail, Mic, Latin Trends, Native Peoples, Yes! Magazine, Glassworks, and numerous other outlets. She has presented work at the Queens Botanical Garden, the Elisabet Ney Museum, the Brooklyn Waterfront Artists' Coalition, 1708 Gallery, the Waveland Ground Zero Museum, the New York Transit Museum, the Poe Museum, and other venues. She is a graduate of VCUarts and holds an MFA in interdisciplinary art from The City College of New York. She is a member of the Dramatists' Guild of America, The Authors Guild, and the Actors' Equity Association.
